Slavery
Slavery is where one man owns another and force them to work with no pay. There were many states in the south that had slaves on plantations. It was needed on some big plantations for the economy( cheap labor ).
Slavery was a cause because the north and south,s economy is different from each other. In the south slaves were used for farming on the plantations, while in the north is manufactoring
A famous person who was part of slavery was John Brown, he was against slavery and believed that it was his duty to stop slavery.
He was part of an event that's called Bleeding Kansas, it was an event that he killed a few men there that were supporters of slavery (hence "Bleeding Kansas").

Kansas-Nebraska Act

This act repealed the Missouri Compromise, allowing slavery in territory north of the coordinates 36 30. After the passed on May 30, 1854, after it violence broke out against pro-slavery and anti-slavery supporters.
